Summer Term Topic 1: Dig and Grow

This term in our class we are very excited to be learning all about things that live in our garden. We explored our wildlife area and looked for signs of spring. We took photos of all the things we found.

Week 1 - The Very Hungry Caterpillar

What a greedy caterpillar he is! This week some special visitors arrived in our class - our very own caterpillars! They have been getting bigger and bigger. We have been watching them very carefully and can't wait for them to turn into beautiful butterflies.

As part of our topic work we have been learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly.

Week 2 - Jack and the Beanstalk

Fe Fi Fo Fum!!..... What a scary giant he was! Jack was very brave and we loved acting out the story. We all wrote to the giant to see if we could be his friend. We didn't grow a beanstalk but we did grow some cress - it grew so fast, we kept a seed diary to record what happened.

Week 3 - Oliver's Vegetables

This week we talked about our favourite food and vegetables and used our senses to write sentences about them. We used chalk and pastels to do observational drawings of different fruit and vegetables.

Week 4 - Superworm

‚ÄčThis week in Willow class we have been writing about our very own superpowers! Some of us would like to fly, others would like to be able to spin webs and the teacher's favourite superpower wish - is to be able to tidy the classroom with a click of our fingers!

Photos of some of the children's work will be posted shortly.

Later in the week we all made a minibeast using clay and other art materials. Next week we are hoping to paint them. Some of them look very scary!

Photo's of some of the children's scary minibeasts will be posted shortly.
